ANNOUNCING THIS YEAR'S LUPINE SHAKESPEARE PRODUCTION OF A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM AT PORTLAND WALDORF SCHOOL!
I believe the process of creating theatre is the best education children can get for their future and the future of our community at large.
Many lifelong skills are learned and honed in the theatre. Among them: learning your part, finding your voice, listening, showing up, being on time, collaborating, making space for others, respecting others’ contributions, practicing your craft, and sharing your innate gifts.
With over 30 years of in-depth experience in acting, teaching and directing I am committed to making sure your child learns these vital lessons while also having the time of their lives!
A big misconception about Shakespeare is that it is difficult for kids (and adults) to learn or understand. Our audiences will attest that this is simply not the case. Not with OUR theatre club! We make Shakespeare both accessible and fun for kids grade 5 through 8!

In the craft of acting we not only get to play out our dreams but also to analyze, re-interpret, bend, shape, extend, and improve upon those dreams before sharing them with an audience. The role in which we’re cast serves as our permission slip to do so. From Beatrice and Benedick to Sarah and The Goblin King, all characters begin simply as words on a page, and it is the role of the actor to breathe life into them by finding their truth. In reaching beyond ourselves and discovering the unlimited power of our imagination, we get to explore the frontiers of human emotion in a safe environment, free of judgment or criticism, for who are we to judge our dreams? But don’t let all this discovery, education, and growth throw you: It’s TONS OF FUN!!!!!!!!!
The design team for a theatrical production plays a pivotal role in bringing the world of the play to life. Collaborating closely with the director to visually and atmospherically enhance the story, the goal is to transport the audience into the story's setting and immerse them in its atmosphere. Campers have the unique opportunity to be a part of the design team during their camp session. By designing the set and costumes for the play they not only gain hands-on experience in various aspects of theatrical production but also unleash their creativity and imagination in a meaningful and tangible way. This fosters a deep sense of ownership and pride in their work while instilling valuable skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and artistic expression, making their camp experience enriching, enchanting, and educational!!!!
